Cain Velasquez booked into Santa Clara County Jail following shooting

Former WWE, AAA, and UFC star Cain Velasquez has been booked into Santa Clara County Jail following a shooting.

NBC Bay Area reported that the shooting was reported at 3:14 p.m. Monday afternoon. One man was shot and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. People were asked to avoid the area after the shooting as police conducted the investigation. It currently isn’t clear what charges Velasquez is facing.

A former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Velasquez left mixed martial arts in 2019 and started to make appearances for Lucha Libre AAA. He signed with WWE in October of 2019, building to a match between himself and Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia, which Velasquez lost. He was later released due to budget cuts in April of 2020.

Velasquez returned to Lucha Libre AAA this past October to compete at Triplemania Regia II, where he teamed with Psycho Clown and Pagano to defeat LA Park, Rey Escorpion, and Taurus.
