North Wilkesboro presents winning opportunity for Ty Majeski

To say that Ty Majeski was dominant on short tracks in 2023 is an understatement.

The Seymour, Wisconsin native led 395 laps on tracks a mile or less in length during the 2023 season, including 179 in a playoff-opening win at IRP.

While Majeski has yet to win in 2024, he's been extremely consistent, collecting six top-10 finishes through the season's first nine races. He currently sits 106 points above the playoff cutline, comfortably inside the postseason field with seven races remaining in the regular season.

However, Saturday's race at North Wilkesboro presents him with the perfect opportunity to visit victory lane for the first time this season. Majeski finished second at North Wilkesboro in 2023 and is looking to be one spot better this time.

In a year where title favorites Corey Heim and Christian Eckes have already ranked up multiple wins — and hence, a myriad of playoff points — winning means much more for Majeski, who is looking to claim a championship after a disappointing end to his 2023 season.

With North Wilkesboro being the last short track on the schedule until IRP on July 19, North Wilkesboro is Majeski's best chance to win before the penultimate race of the Truck Series regular season. That's not to say that Majeski can't win anywhere else, as he's certainly capable of doing so, but the short tracks are always where Majeski's talent shines through the most.

Now, it's up to him to be one spot better at the historic track than one year ago.

Saturday's race at North Wilkesboro will start at 1:30 p.m. ET and be aired on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
